A report from Eric for mikescatchreport.com
SteveT and I went out to fish this morning around 6:30am. We walked down the beach for a while then waded out and started fishing.
I was trying out the Sage rod I bought-- first time out. In about 15 minutes I hook up with a small bone, maybe 2 pounds, and had to hand line in the fish because the line got knotted and I could not reel it in. SteveT had to come over to undo the knot. Then SteveT hooked up and landed a 3 pounder. But by this time the wind was blowing 15 to 20 mph as we started to move down the coast.
I found a small coral head to stand on and there was a small sand patch in front of it so I cast into the sand hooked a 2 pound yellow spot jack crevalle. After releasing that fish I cast into the same sandy spot and hooked and landed a 3 pound oi'o (bonefish).
We continued to walk down the coast and we saw SteveL fishing in front of us. I launched a cast and missed a strike then SteveT, about 10yards to my right, hooks and lands a 3 1/2 pound bone.
Anyway, SteveT and I had a good day of fishing--5 bonefish and one yellow spot jack and some trumpet fish.
