A report from SteveL for mikescatchreport.com

It was a furlough day and I didn't want to waste it doing yard work, so I headed off to fish the flats with Ed.

We fished the entire morning, walking from the The Point to Big Tree. It was a partly cloudy day with trades gusting up to about 15mph.  It was enough to chill you, especially if you're wet. I stumbled on the way out this morning and sat down in water up to my chest. I told Ed that it was a baptism and I would do well that day. Yeah right.  But I did manage to hook into five O'io and was able to land three. One fish was 3.5 pounds and the other two were 5 pounders.

Ed was really surprised how productive fly fishing can be.  I told him that this was a slow but fairly average day--well, maybe I stretched the truth but there is always room for bravado and half truths in fishing.  Unlike in other sports, it's totally acceptable and expected.
