Paul invited me to fish for croakers Thursday night and Friday
morning off Cobb Island. I took off from the
office and arrived around 8pm, just as the sun was
beginning to set.
It was a short trip from Cobb to the croaker grounds and we
quickly set anchor and began to fish. Paul immediately
pulled in a very large croaker and continued to add fish to
his pile for the next few hours we were out there. I,
however, did not have any luck. I had exactly one tap on
the line and that was it for the rest of the night.
It wasn't any better the following morning. Paul continued
to catch fish and I continued to feed them. The heavy rain
we had in our area the past few days really changed the
salinity because besides pulling in croakers, Paul also
caught a few catfish.
EQUIPMENT: We used spinning rods that were
between 7 to 8-feet long rigged for bottom fishing.
basically a 3-way swivel with an 8-ounce teardrop sinker
and a short leader tied to a #4 or #6 baitholder hook.
