A report from Eric for
mikescatchreport.com
Hey Mike, this pass weekend SteveL called me to see if I
wanted to go fly fishing with him on Saturday but I was at
a birthday party so I told him that I would try to make it
but I ran out of time and couldn’t go. So I went fishing on
Sunday instead and caught the morning rising tide.
As I was walking down the beach I saw two large tails about
7 yards out from shore. I was pumped and ready for some
action. I walked down to the point where we fished when you
and SteveT were here.
I was trying different color flies for about an hour but no
takers. Then I said to myself that I should use the good
luck fly, the one that you tied.
After about two not bad casts, Mr. O’io slammed into the fly and
took off. He took all of the fly line and about 50
yards of backing. He gave me a decent fight and
I tagged, measured and weighed Mr.
O’io--he was 18 ½ inches long and around 2 ½ pounds.
