Jin invited us to fish with him on the Missouri River in Craig, Montana, with the folks from Big Sky Anglers. It was a great trip so I'll keep the words to a minimum and just let the photos tell the story.
The weather was excellent but the water was running high and fast because of winter melt-off. About 50 percent of the snow pack is still sitting on the high peaks all over the state. On the day we arrived water was running at 12,000 but it dropped the next few days to 9,800 to 9,500. However thanks to Joe and Greg, we tangled with big rainbows and browns every day.
And because of the water, insect life has exploded. Mosquitos are everywhere and insect repellent is a must. Those head protectors we're wearing in the pictures aren't being used only to keep the sun off our necks. Both Joe and Greg said when the water level stabilizes and the weather warms just a bit, the PMD and caddis hatches on the Missouri will be absolutely phenomenal.
